Helical Gear Box
Helical gearboxes are engineered for applications with high shock loads and continuous duty, such as rolling mills and heavy industrial drives. Housings for small and medium sizes are made from fabricated steel plates of SAIL only, with generously ribbed stress zones to resist distortion under dynamic loading.Technical Specifications:
Robust, high-efficiency drive for rolling mill roughing and intermediate stands.- Power Range: 100-500 kW; torque up to 1200 kNm.
- Design: 3-4 stage vertical helical gears; case-carburized at 58-60 HRC; DIN 3990 service factors.
- Ratios: 10:1 to 60:1; input speeds 700-1500 rpm.
- Efficiency: 96-98%; low vibration and noise.
- Features: Stress-relieved housing, forced lubrication, thrust bearings; 15+ year service life.
- We use only SKF / FAG / NTN bearings in our machinery and gearboxes
- Applications: Pinion stands, reduction drives in hot/cold rolling mills.
Key Design Highlights:
- Heat-treated internals (approx. 300 BHN pinions, 260 BHN gears) prior to tooth cutting
- Shaft extensions with deep axial holes and provision for hydraulic extraction of bearings and couplings
- We use only SKF / FAG / NTN bearings in our machinery and gearboxes.
- External heat exchangers and forced lubrication options where required
- Accurate shaft end tolerances and positive oil flow to bearings in either direction of rotation
